FerryDodger ("the app") is a nautical planning application. This policy describes what data the app processes and how. Core principle: the app has no server of its own and does not own or collect any personal data on our systems. All the data you create remains on your device.
Routes, waypoints, anchorages, settings, and maps downloaded for offline use are saved exclusively in your device’s local storage (IndexedDB). They are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can export or delete them at any time from the app Settings. When you uninstall the app, this data is removed.
When you start LIVE mode, the app accesses the device location (including in the background, through a foreground service with a persistent notification) to show it on the map, calculate progress along the route, and alert you when you are approaching an intersection with ferry routes.
Your GPS location does not leave the device: it is not sent to us or to third parties, it is not stored permanently, and it is not shared. It is used only in real time, on the phone. You can stop tracking at any time using the STOP button.
To provide its features, the app queries the following public services. It receives data; it does not send personally identifiable data:
None of these services receives your real-time GPS location. Each service processes data according to its own privacy policy.
The app does not require registration, does not use accounts, does not contain advertising, does not use analytics or tracking tools, and does not access contacts, photos, or the microphone.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Any changes to this policy will be published on this page with the date at the top updated.
